How to Start a
Successful Internet Business
Being successful on the internet begins with having a Website. It doesn't
matter if you are selling 1 product/service or if your selling 1,259 products and
services. There are 3 basic parts of a Website:
Your Storefront (Homepage)
Your Product Display (Subsidiary Pages)
Your Cash Register (Online Order Form)
Your job as a cyberpreneur is to use every sales/advertising/marketing
strategy in the book to get people to your storefront. And then get them from the
storefront to the cash register CH--CHING!!!

THE BASIC STEPS TO
PUTTING UP A WEBSITE
1. Choose a Web Host - A Web Host is a company that puts
your business on the Internet with your own Website. Most Internet Service Providers
(ISP's) offer Web Hosting services. Or you can search the web for "web hosting
services". Your web host will usually charge a set-up fee to get started, and a
monthly fee to keep your Website active.
2. Start with the least expensive - Most basic, no frills
web hosting package provided by your web host. The key here is to get up-and-running as
quickly and as inexpensively as possible so you can get your feet wet and test your
business idea. You can modify your Website, add to it, and change it - anytime.
3. Carefully outline and organize the
material you want to place on your Website. Your Website must be EASY to use. The
design of the site must make it easy for the user to navigate and not get lost.
A good web hosting company usually partners with other
companies to provide different Website services such as registering your own domain name
(www.yourname.com) and providing simple, easy to use Website design software to have your
site up and running in minutes. You can pay for a professional Website designer, but it's
not recommended since it only takes a few minutes to learn how to do it yourself. And that
money is better spent elsewhere. |

HOME PAGE
The Home Page can be likened to a table of contents or storefront which
allows visitors the ability to choose what part of the site to visit and in effect get a
short tour of what your business offers. You must design wording and layout for your site
that will:
 | Be attractive and appealing to the visitor.
|
 | Limited in verbiage to avoid bored
"flighty" visitors.
|
 | Graphics should be used creatively to
enhance a site, not overpower it or weigh it down with excessive graphic load times.
|
 | Be information based and useful to the
visitor .
|
 | Enable customers to order information
directly from your company using an electronic order form.
|
TEXT
Designing an appealing, eye-catching Website does not always require the
use of graphic images. Skillful use of words gives you the ability to exploit some of the
sales techniques used by successful advertisers. You can truly make hundreds even
thousands of dollars each month with very little effort once you create an effective sales
message. Most successful advertisements are written according to a simple "master
formula" called AIDA which
means:
A - Attention:
Attract the "attention" of the reader with a compelling headline or question.
Include attention grabbing words such as: FREE, FAT, RICH, SEX, etc,...
I - Interest:
"Interest" the ad reader in the product by pointing out one or more of the major
benefits of your product (i.e. lose weight, make more money, look better, etc...)
D - Description:
Describe your product in detail including any and all bonuses, discounts, etc,...
A - Action: Demand
"action" from the reader (i.e. Order Now!..., Email for further details...,
etc...)
MIRROR PAGES
A mirror page is a simple Web page that you create for the sole purpose of
driving traffic to your main Web site. On this Web page will be links and banners that
will advertise your main Web site. The visitors to this page will simply click on the
links and they will arrive at your MAIN SITE. The following is a real-life, proven example
to show how it works:
EXAMPLE: Let's say your company sells power tools. Most people do NOT go
on the internet looking for power tools. Most people go on the internet looking for
information about things that interest them. Your strategy is to choose a topic of
interest related to your product, like "Home Improvements" or "Home
Repairs". Create a Web page called "FREE Home Repair Tips." On this Web
page will be links and banners that will advertise your "Power Tools" Web site.
How many Home Repair enthusiasts use power tools? All of 'em! The visitors to "FREE
Home Repair Tips" will simply click on the links and they will arrive at your
"Power Tools" Web site.
The best mirror site you can create should be one that is
in a subject category that you know a lot about. (You obviously should be selling a
product that you know a lot about.) And each mirror page should be optimized for high rank
in the major search engines. |
